You shouldn't have any problem crossing at Niagara, especially if you're paddling. It's been done before. You might prefer a barrel, and definitely should scout that last drop. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3-J_osprTw
I am planning on driving up to Swift and getting the canoe and seeing what else they have in the store I cannot live without, then probably spending the night and coming back the next day.
I can't fathom shopping in Buffalo except for a Colden Canoe..
Nodrama,
Some of the cross border shoppers here in Canada plan on staying overnight in the states to take advantage of tax and duty breaks of some kind. I'm driving down to Lewiston to pick up some machinery parts and might do that once I know just what those are and if I can find a nice park somewhere to camp in this spring.
Still need to find out what the advantage is and whether it's worth venturing into Lackawanna, Tonawanda and Cheektowaga to see how Buffalonians shop and maybe pick up some bargains. Also visit the Rick James memorial and see the Falls from the USian side.
Right grandpa! We live in GODs country, not the city.
If you buy something made in the US Canada or Mexico ( NAFTA) there is no limit on how much or little you spend in order to avoid dutyIt's very nice of you to make the offer for an overnight campsite, GP... I just may be there this spring. I checked out the info on the tax and duty breaks and it seems a 48-hour stay is necessary to get an $800 exemption on certain goods whatever those might be. That's two nights so more cross border time than planned on earlier.
Tax break.. nope.
