Starting from Scratch: Sitting/Kneeling or Pack-Boat Style?

My RF cannot be retrofitted with a hung seat.. Joe told me that they need to know before construction that the paddler will kneel. It requires more belly reinforcement and stiffening of the rails. Not a retrofit.

I paddle it fine from the stacked high seat with a 46 inch bent from Fox Worx. I can get 5 mph with a good cab forward hit and switch stroke. And I am a female in mid seventies.

Fortunately I have a dozen other canoes all set up for kneeling

Having a hung seat gives you many seating position options including sitting with your legs in front of you-a low seat only has that one. You can always lower or remove a high seat and install a kayak seat If you want to paddle kayak style-I have done that for several people. If you get a low seat canoe--no options. It seems to me simple choice.
