Not boring at all. But you could get some more traditional ballast for your bow than that big water jug.

With the temperatures in the mid-30s, brilliant sunshine, and minimal wind, my two friends and I enjoyed a wonderful New Year's Day paddle on ice-free Tully Lake in north-central Massachusetts. I was in my Northwind Solo, while one friend was in his Hornbeck, and the other was in his home-built cedar stripper. It was a great start to the New Year.

...the swan showed interest but didn't want to join in...

Todays paddle on the lake of Thoune. It was kind of cold, air temperature -2.5 C / 27.5 F.
