I've heard that Hornbeck is moving into the Midwest and going to be opening a shop in the Twin Cities. Should be interesting to see how they do, lot's of pack boats in the NE but not so much in the Midwest.
Building there or just a retail outlet? Either way, great news for the business.I've heard that Hornbeck is moving into the Midwest and going to be opening a shop in the Twin Cities. Should be interesting to see how they do, lot's of pack boats in the NE but not so much in the Midwest.
My understanding is that they will be building in MN.Building there or just a retail outlet? Either way, great news for the business.
Everytime I go, I can't help but pick one up off the rack. The weights always blow my mind. They are exhibiting at Canoecopia this year.
When my wife picks up her 14 lb. "Lost Pond" and carries it to the put-in, people stare at "how strong she must be". Those that come over and ask about the Hornbeck are still amazed when they pick it up. They are usually used to the weight of a Grumman or a fishing kayak.Everytime I go, I can't help but pick one up off the rack. The weights always blow my mind.
Outstanding! With over a dozen different hulls, though, I imagine they would only offer a subset of their current lineup. The cost of duplicating all those molds would be enormous. My understanding is that they will be building in MN.
I wish them luck, I do. I would have thought someplace like Florida would have been a better choice, though, given the demographics and year-round paddling opportunity.I chatted with Hot beck at Canoecopia. They are opening a store in twin cities but all manufacturing will stay where it is.
