First stripper build: Prospector-16 Help & comments appreciated

Well, I broke down and bought a decent scale. Final weight on the canoe: 58 lbs. Not too terrible IMO, given I wasn't really all that conscious of weight on my first build. Book says 50-60 lbs. I doubled football area inside & out. Heavier than the picture though.

Paddles weighed in as follows:

Straight shaft 28 oz & 33 oz
Bent shafdt both 28 oz.
 
Somethings are worth the weight, In my opinion !

Every builder makes those choices.

Your next will be lighter for sure.
Omitting the extra layer on the inside, would be my first step in lightening a hull.

Building canoes is like learning to peddle a bike. You don't quit after that first ride !

Fabulous Kliff! I love the contrasting colors, and the way you orientated the grain where the gunnels meet. Very sharp looking canoe.
