I did my own and some farriery work for many years. Very hard on the body, knees and back. Then, getting stepped on was another occupational hazard. Can’t imagine it’s a conditioning activity for anyone. I think it degraded my body more than strengthening it.
At 67, with some orthopedic heath issues, I’m playing ping pong and walking, snowshoeing when able. I used to work my upper body with exercise bands, but I’m avoiding that so my shoulder heals more completely. I need to low impact it for a while. Hoping to do some therapeutic paddling in March weather permitting.
