Photo of the day

These pics were takin from my house in the Poconos since the ice went out three weeks ago. This mature loon is just passing through and won't be around long. We've had immature non breeding loons stick around for the season in the past. The deer swam about 3/4 of a mile for apparently no reason. Strange thing is I had seen a deer swim the same exact route a year or two ago. The otters have been around for a while. The one in the water was a female with a male close behind trying to mate with her. The dead young beaver may have been killed by an eagle. It was eaten by an adult eagle and three different juveniles over two days. I believe the juveniles were offspring of the adult as she let them feed on it.
I had also seen a mink and many different birds over the past week.IMG_1635.jpegIMG_1638.jpegIMG_1643.jpeg

Aslowhand and I paddled on Lake Brienz today.

On the Aare River. Aslowhand is the photographer.

Erica, you seem to be getting Aslowhand to take pictures of more Swiss waterbodies than usual. Thanks for posting them for our viewing jealousy. What are you doing in Switzerland? Vacation? Mycophilia?

It's easy. I told him my iphone battery died. Well, not really, but it does help to ask in person.

BTW, Glenn, if you want Aslowhand to post about Switzerland, you have to give him a category to put the thread in. (IMO) We have spent a half an hour trying to figure out where to put a trip report for a Swiss trip. There are American and Canadian trip reports. We discussed putting it under Tandem because we are two solo paddlers going tandem. We thought maybe under Events? News? Or maybe because one of the paddlers is American, we could put it under American Trip Reports? You see, we have taxing problems here to consider. ;)

I am vacationing. Also went to Sweden to see my grandson and daughter-in-law. Not sure what I am going to do when Aslowhand's vacation is over. Continue in Switzerland but not sure where. I love it here.

Erica and everyone:

Trip reports from countries other than the USA and Canada go in the Canoe Destinations and Routes forum. The forum content description specifically reads: "Good places to paddle for a day or month, close to home or far away. Trip reports from countries other than USA and Canada."

In the default and some other color themes, the forum content descriptions appear when you hover your cursor over the forum name. In the Mocha Style and Chestnut Green-Gray color themes the forum content descriptions are permanently visible in list of forums. The forum content descriptions also appear under the forum title whenever you open any forum.

The purpose of the forum content descriptions is to help members put threads into the correct forums for future researchers and search engines. Some members are very good about this; others require lots of moderator time and effort to move threads into the most relevant forum.
