Just wondering what section of the Thelon did you paddle.

As wjmc suggested, here is our Moss Stardome 2 on the Thelon River. It performed extremely well in the strong winds of the Barren Grounds.



But the Moss tent eventually wore out. And Kathleen wanted a roomier tent. So we bought a MEC Wanderer IV, shown here on the Yukon River. We made this choice based on the recommendation of two couples in our canoe club, who are also wilderness paddlers. We like the tent, but don't know if it as wind-resistant as the Moss Stardome 2. For some reason, the Wanderer IV is no longer available at MEC. Does anyone here know why it has apparently been discontinued?

Have you tried the mesh inners for the Hillebergs? Wondering if one would be good for our Nallo. I do like how we can open the tail end of the Nallo right up and, using the guy lines, roll the front of the tent back to the first pole.

Paddling Pitt - Rebesca Lake is about 160 miles north of Yellowknife at 64 deg 33' N, 116 deg 24' W. It is on one of the two traditional canoe routes connecting the Gameti / Rae Lake area with the headwaters of the Emile RIver and the barrens around Mesa Lake.

Bothwell - I have not tried the mesh liners. I'm not really a fan of mesh that can't be covered, since it won't be much protection against any condensation that does form on the inside of the fly. It seems to me that the fact that the fly comes all the way to the ground (great for blowing sand or snow) is the real limiter on air circulation when the tents are sealed up in bad weather. I agree the foot vent on the Nallo is a big plus.

It’s here!! So we ordered a new tent this spring, we were sick of crawling in regular light weight tents where you have a hard time dressing up and moving around in them and if it is big enough then they weight a ton and I have a few canvas tent that fit that criteria lol! But we wanted a tent that would house the 3 of us comfortably and have room for gear, a place where you can dress easily and even somewhat stand in the middle, where you can get in and out w/o having to go on all four and light enough you can carry easily for bike packing or backpacking trips or canoe trips that require portages!! So after looking around and debating we decided to go with mountain laurel design out of the US! The tent is fantastic, really well made and of great quality!! The service is ok at best and really not great!! The tent is 10’x 10’ x 6’ and weight in fully rigged out at 5lbs !!
