Maskwa reboot

My trip to Turtle River fell through for various reasons so when I got home I dropped a dime on my excellent friend Patricia and we headed up the Maskwa river for a couple of days of camping. This is a crown land site that I go to for a nice relaxing trip . It was her first off grid canoe camping experience. She is now ruined...lol.Three days, two nights. Easy paddling, one portage, eagles, otters, waterfalls, trails. And beautiful scenery.

My camera died but she took lots of pictures.

Truly is a beautiful spot, what a wonderful introduction to back country canoe camping. Patricia will remember this trip and your friendship all of her days.

That's some nice country, I bet that's some site during high water.Any fishing?

It is pretty awesome during high water yes...and there are like six more bigger ones on this river if you can get to them. The fishing has been ok some years but it looks to be cleaned out now. There are otters there so that probably doesnt help.

Did you get a chance to use the new barrel organiser?

Looks like a great route we need to try.

I suspect these low water water years are playing havoc with fish migration and survival; adults can get to spawning sites and juveniles don't get spread out and then evertyhing dies when water levels get low and the water heats up.

I did use the barrel organiser and I LOVE it. Makes life so much easier. Great design Chris.

I love mine and almost kick myself for not getting 1 more, but they fit our 30L barrel perfectly as is with some room to spare. Some room to spare can be important. Despite Chris having made tags for each one I still can't bring myself to label them. They're perfect as they are. Besides, where does the hot chocolate packets go really, breakfast, lunch or dinner? Some items get rearranged along with the hot chocolate so the breakfast, lunch and dinner organisers become more of a guideline rather than an absolute rule.
That patio view cannot be beat. Glad you made it out this summer and dragged one more convert into the fold.

This may be your cup of tea so to speak Chris...the ports are overgrown from disuse past the first falls. I was going to cut some more out but ran out of ambition. Even a fall/winter port opening hike? If you want to paddle I would love to tag along.

Brad yes, a convert, but she has inisidiously drawn me into buying a kayak paddle now. She needed one more convert too to qualify for the toaster oven...the judges decision is pending.
