This kevlar / carbon concept is quite intriguing. Not sure how I ever missed this thread but this Black Pearl build on top of the Black Pearl was a lot of fun to read through. The inlaid cedar football is quite a unique added touch. Nice work Jim!!

Years ago I saw a hull with a stripped bottom. It adds the stiffness I wanted. Foam was too expensive, and no readily available, and so Thin Cedar worked fine. Will do more this way !

Technically they are not Screws, rather Carriage Bolts.

I've never seen phillips head carriage bolts.

I like the concept of the seat back-carry yoke. Very clever Jim!

I'm sure that the screws in the yoke are simply permanent clamps put in place during glue up!

I'm really loving this hull.

Spent 5 days in the BWCA , with her, last Fall (Oct.)

I need to lighten my packs, specifically my sleeping bag and pad ! Cook kit could be a little lighter to . You can see my #4 CCS Duluth bag doesn't make it between the gunnels. Even though, it handled great loaded !

If I would do anything to this hull design, I'd add a very small amount of rocker.

Maybe I need to build another canoe ! Ha !
