Who still brings axes?

Ha ha, for less than the price of Heiki's axe, my wife bought me an electric splitter from Canadian Tire. Think it was about 200 bucks. I split four cord in two nights with the thing, I was amazed, can't live without it now. Only problem is, you have to use two hands to operate it, so beer drinking can only occur between logs.

C'mon man... have ya never seen the specialised hats for such a dilemma?

I'm in the Rockies (Wyoming), and carry a GB Wildlife hatchet. My camping sees mostly small chopping, splitting and fuzzing chores. I could do these chores with other tools but I sure enjoy using the little chopper and that's much of what its about.

I never go any where with out an axe, usually a small 20 inch handle 2pound head, I don't remember the model, but they are from Wetterling, I have a carving axe from GB, and my splitting axe if from GB as well, I split on average 7 cords of wood every fall with it and wouldn't trade it for anything. I love axes, I think they are much in our Canadian tradition/culture that a canoe and paddle are!! Razor sharp, you can do almost every thing a knife can plus every thing an axe can!!
