Turner Lake Loop - Temagami - Spring 2023

I was fortunate enough to do this loop with no bugs and just before the smoke and fires inundated the area. It's a trip with some challenging portages but incredibly beautiful lakes. Temagami never ceases to amaze me.

Going to drive up from Pittsburgh, Pa in mid-Sept to do this route and fish! I'm primarily a hammock camper. Did you have any issues finding sites that would accommodate hammocks? I'm solo.

Steve - I'm just getting back to this site. Didn't make it up there. I kept checking the weather, and it didn't look too favorable, so I canceled. Big mistake, they had gorgeous weather and above normal temps. I need to stop checking the weather before trips. It just snowballs into excuses and reasons not to go. A few years back I had some truck issues in Temagami that were a total disaster (Twinkle Lake Access) and I think that sometimes plays into excuses also. I'll finish that trip this coming year (2024). Thanks for getting back on the Esquif info also.

Sorry, was away in New Zealand and just returned. Didn't get there yet. At the last minute, I decided to head back to Algonquin for some solo time. Got crushed with a pretty big storm while I was there. Luckily, I had made camp just before it rolled in. Sounded like artillery about an hour before it arrived. I'm somehow a storm magnet when I'm solo. The same thing happened in the BWCA a few years back. I am back in planning mode now. This will be my son's last year in college and after that a full-time job so I gotta plan something good. I was thinking 14 days in Quetico should do it
