I thought I would start this thread to keep you guys updated on all the awards coming my way, such as the Ripster and The Plaid Prancer. Feel free to post your own awards too. Anyway, my wife texted me at work today and said i had a parcel in from Brad (AKA Odyssey). I had quite a rewarding day already, as my old 1972 skidoo finally started. So when I got home and saw a large box from Brad I was pretty excited. My anticipation was rewarded in spades. First, there was the paperwork, which I will be framing, and hanging near my fireplace.

And then there was the actual award, perhaps one of the classiest Trophies I have ever seen! A lot of work and hot glue gunning went into this trophy, I hope I don't take it apart and eat it one night in a drunken stupor.

Thanks a bunch Brad, it's a most awesome award, indeed, epic. When the knives get here, I'll do another update

I mailed out the "Plaid Prancer" yesterday....clerk said 10 days....at that price I could have drove it up faster and with gas prices maybe cheaper.

She asked for a description,

I responded "plaid prancer, the Hipster, the Geraldton Jock Strap, Marshall Lake Macho Man"

She responded "Haslam?"

You got it Mistress Postmaster

Considering the only award you received in 2015 was "favorite tripping hack" I'd say you're really moving up in the world.

Alan

This is the second trophy. I ate the prototype. I thought full cans with perfectly unpeeled labels looked classier. I also spoke to a post mistress when filling in forms. When she asked about the contents, well, how exactly do you describe this really? A knick-knack? With cutlery? And canned meat? So I just told her "...um, it's ...um...a thing."
By all means mem, frame the document and hang it proudly. You indeed have style, and the sentiments are all true. As for the trophy, well maybe you can eat it ceremoniously some night. Maybe when the fire's lit and the cooler's full; and you're dancing round the place with a party in full swing. Fry it up over a fire in the yard, and watch the woodsmoke drifting through the firs and curling upwards into the night sky veiling the stars as it goes. That's where our tripping spirits soar.

Odyssey, as eloquent as your endorsement for consumption is, I am still somewhat loath to eat the only Major Award I have ever received. If my son ever gets busy and creates a squalling mini future tax payer, I would like to be able to show the grandchild that I was once a Major Award winner, and not just some weird fat old guy with too many canoes.

However, nothing is written in stone. If I do eat it, I will at least take pictures for posterity, so I can look back in my dotage and remember that I was once winner too.

"Weird fat old guy with too many canoes Award" has a certain ring to it too I suppose.
I dream of winning that one some day. But I'll always lack style.

So you've been trying to start your skidoo since 1972? You're one determined guy.

I'm starting to get worried, everything just keeps coming up roses for me, must mean a big come-up-ance is on the way. I advertised on a local buy and sell site for a helmet to go with my 1972 skidoo, and two minutes later, a lady got back to me and said she has one to give me. Looks just like this:

Same colour, brand, everything. Maybe I should advertise and ask if anyone has a kevlar canoe they want to get rid of.

Wow, I gotta get one of those yellow jackets now. My skidoo is in that first video, 1972 Olympique, two cylinder, and I believe the first year they used sliders instead of bogey wheels. To get back on the canoe topic, there is some damage to the body, that I will be fixing with epoxy and fiberglass, skills I learned canoe making.

He's the first shed my father bought us, it's a 63 Moto Ski. There were 9 built 6 stayed in Canada 3 came to NH. He bought it in the mid to late 60's. I'm on the back of the sled, my sisters in the box with my neighbor Rickie who has Polo.
The sled is now in the NH Snowmobile Museum @ Bear Brook SP in NH, The motor is the only surviving original surviving 7hp and is in a sled in the Moto Ski museum in Montreal.

Update on the Major Award...my wife bought a frame and this is what greeted me when I got home.....on the mantle, right beside the wedding pic. Gosh, she must really think it's a Major Award!

Wow Mem you're going to need a tripod or something to display 'The Ripster' to give it equal billing with all that.
