So, what old item do you still use?

I still have some wool... my socks are always wool, but 'new'... SmartWool or Wigwam, mostly. I also found a couple used 100% merino sweaters, like the old itchy US military 5-button ones, but soft and wearable next to my skin... got one at the LL Bean store in Syracuse, NY, off the 'seconds' rack for $5 (originally over $100) because it had a small snag in it. Found the other in the Goodwill store here in LA for either $3 or $5. I think it was actually in the ladies section. Anyway, both great, but not 'old'. I have a really old pair of wool longjohns that I am reluctant to retire... they were my dad's from his time in the Navy in the late 50s... I have some 50s-era "Field Pants" that are a wool-blend (like most army stuff). I have a 100% wool Filson hunting jacket... no idea how old it is, but probably from the 70s or 80s... game pocket in back, 4 snap button pockets on the front. Very warm but a little itchy around the neck. Finally, I have an old USGI issue "Field Shirt"... again, no idea how old, but very warm and quiet while hunting. I lined the neck with some satin so it doesn't itch.

I like the sound of all that vintage wool Seeker. I too shop the Goodwill type stores for good clothing. Some of my favourite shirts were once worn by someone else. Umm, I'd never thought of wandering thru the ladies section. Not willingly.
I really like those old stoves. I might start keeping an eye out for any in antique markets. I'm always looking out for old knives and compasses. No luck yet. Knives are always too beat up and too far gone.

I, too, like my old wool (and my new). I have a number of wool pendleton shirts which I love to wear. I also have old worsted wool dress pants which have transitioned into my camping pants. My military surplus wool is ok, the casual wool clothes from days gone by are much more comfortable to me.

Filson, Folsom,Pendleton,wool rich, I like them all. I just gave my DAD a Woolrich wool stag shirt with a cape. He is very happy about it.

I have a Colman Stove that is 58 years old. I had to change a few gaskets, and I got it running again. I plan on taking it on our Utah trip for ten days on the Green river. Also bringing an iron pan that my mother brought when we immigrated from Germany. I'm 71 and I know it's much older than that.

Several #3 Duluth packs from the early 1970’s. A really large, heavy duty aluminum pot with lid/fry pan that my mother bought for me in the early 70’s but only used on group trips.

Mostly my kevlar tripping canoes from the 70's. I've worn out and replaced most everything else, but I can rebuild a canoe over and over.

My oldest item that comes to mind is my Boy Scout interlocking eating utensils. I bought them when I was 8-10 years old. I'll be 65 next week

My oldest item is my Swiss Army knife - had it for close to 50 years. It is one of the larger multifunction ones, with a hand lens. The leather case rotted out at the grommets just a year ago.

Thank you for reminding me that I have the same item dating to the late 1950’s. But to be fair I don’t use them all that much anymore.

You just jogged my memory. I also have an old EMS item from the mid 70's. It's a fanny pack that I still use on occasion. I use it to store some tree climbing gear, more than use it as a fanny pack
