Took the canoe out to Raystown Pa today in my Tacoma. The sun was out so I tried the canoe on a new rack on my Jeep. They are low profile and I can put the soft top up without removing them. Test run was successful. YC and others mentioned poly tubing on the thwarts. I’ll be going to Lowe’s tomorrow.

Well, yes, a little trickery--the photo is flipped upside down. But my Rendezvous likes to dream it can strap the Tacoma to its gunwales and soar through the sky.

I like to think it’s strapped to a modified Yakima rack on the bottom of a 747 heading to NZ or Scotland for some exotic tripping.

Like alsg, I am a bit embarrassed as well. So far, I have been able to get to where I need to go.

New photo added - I was able to do an upgrade to my canoe transport system after finding a Sportrack system that fit my car at a good price on FB Marketplace. I am now rid of the foam blocks and no more straps running through the car. Canoe is so much more secure. Will put it to the test tomorrow on a drive to the ADKs for a 5 day canoe-camping trip.

1989 GMC S-15. Never checked the fuel mileage but she will do 80 on the interstate, boat in tow, without a hitch!

2010 Highlander. My '04 had full length factory racks, this one does not and no, the rear door will not open with the boat strapped down. That is my Jack's Special up top.
