This thread is loaded with some fantastic pics. I looked at every one of them.

I love that "Useless Road" pic, I've been down a few of those too. The pic below was another foggy morning on the Steel River system with the High School kids. They were pretty quiet that morning.

So who gets to post a pic of the day? Any sort of protocol here?

Just pictures of canoe related activity's that might interest the rest of us. Day trips in your local area are encouraged so we can see how the other half lives, and extended trip pictures are always welcome.
Gear, campsites, your canoe, old pictures, new ones, it's nice to see them every morning.

On Monday, December 9, 2013 I lost my best friend. I use his name as my screen name. He was beautiful, kind, gentle, protective and could always evoke a smile whenever I was feeling low. We travelled far by canoe together. He always sat the stern and never paddled, but I didn't care at all. He was such great company. I loved to be with him as he loved to be with me. I loved his enthusiasm whenever we were getting ready to go. He never cared where we were going as long as we were together. He lived for that, and now he's dead. I love you and miss you my dear friend. Rest in peace.

That sucks. Nice photo, though. I feel your pain - I lost my lab last year. Gilda lived a bit longer though - 14 years. There is nothing in this world like a good dog, and this world would be far less a place without them.

Sorry to read of your loss. As my dog ages I already worry about losing him. You cannot replace him but you can get another dog, when you're ready.

I don't think we find dogs. Dogs find us. Dog owners have repeated heartbreak. My current is my third dog and she is twelve. Already outlived the average age. Its hard Hogan but maybe that you have company is resassuring.

"He was such great company. I loved to be with him as he loved to be with me."

Sorry to hear the news of your friends passing Hogan, it seems canoes and dogs go together so well, and when they leave us all to quickly, the pain is deep.
Being retired, I spend alot of time with my two labs, and although I sometimes complain when it comes time for the evening walk in the cold, I know someday I will be thinking it would be nice to have them back for just one more walk.
It is tough to loose them.
