Gear that annoys you

I have a 1-liter water bottle that really bugs me. I use it to hold my trips supply of rum or vodka and for one I think it has feet.

It seems every morning I wake up it's gone. Some mornings it sitting out by the fire ring, other mornings it's out by the water laying next to a perfect rock to lean back against and watch a sunset. Sometimes it's laying in the bottom of my canoe with my coffee cup, half a wet cigar and fishing rod.

What really gets me upset, the darn thing leaks. When I finally do track it down, it's short a few ounces from the day before....

Wooden matches that don't light, no matter how much I swear at them.
Butane lighters that sputter and flame intermittently, no matter how often I refill them.
My ferro rod never fails.

I stopped carrying anything but the ferro rod, very confident using it and like your experience it never fails. me

I did a kinda halfassed job with the original application of silicon spray, so I just resprayed the window gaskets making sure to spray/wipe thoroughly inside the full gasket, including the bottom which I may have omitted last time.

For Taco experiment #2 I decanted some of the RainX windshield fluid into a spray bottle and cleaned the exposed truck windows with it. Mirrors too.

Both experiments worked well.

We had rain for a day and then freezing rain last night.

The truck doors were dang near frozen shut (I did not silicon spray the door gaskets), but the power windows popped right open.

The windows cleaned with RainX washer fluid were not only easier to de-ice, but the rear cab and front cap windows were largely drip free for much improved visibility.

If doing that once or twice a winter will keep the windows unfrozen and less droplet occluded I’m in. Time to spray the door gaskets too.
