Dri Ki Paddles

I know there's some beavertails at Schuyler Thomsons shop here in Norfolk, Ct. Some are used with numbers painted on them, some are brand new. All very reasonable priced and I'm not sure of the maker, but they are exact matches to Dri Ki. He might have made them. The used paddles came from a girls canoe camp in Maine, hence the numbers.
I'm not sure of sizes, he might have up to 60", lots of smaller sizes. I could check his inventory and get prices this week if you are interested.

Sure - I am interested. I think I need 60" based on typical beavertail dimensions. Do you know the blade width and grip type?

The grip would be like the paddles in post #27 of this thread. I could look at what he has in his shop and get the measurements, maybe a picture, and prices.

Great - that grip is fine. Might even buy a shorter one for my wife as well depending on price and what is available. Thanks for doing this.
BTW - I joined recently and I don't seem to be getting e mail notice when posts are made to this thread. I thought I set it up so that would happen. Any idea what I might have done wrong?

The email notices stopped working, as did a few other functions. I notified the IT guy I was using, but he has not responded. Being a small site and I have no clue about this stuff, it's kind of a slow process getting these problems worked out.

I'll be in the canoe shop later this week and will get the information on the paddles. The used paddles are in excellent condition, they just need to have the numbers sanded off and re-varnished.

I am happy to report there is a glimmer of hope with Dri-Ki! As a last desperation move I found dri-ki on eBay and ordered a paddle via eBay. This was about a week ago or so. I was expecting never to hear back from them. But today I got a message from them through eBay asking for some details on my order! I replied immediately with a question asking if they make paddle in cherry. They replied right away that they do not. So I gave them my specs for an ash paddle.

I'll keep you all posted! The price was for the paddle was $30 and shipping is about $25 - so it ends up at $55 shipped. Still - a very good price. Almost to good to be true. Again, its not yet in my possession - but we will soon know if this is real. Sounds promising at this point.

I finally got them on the phone today, ordered the Maine guide paddle. The paddle was $35 and sipping was only $9 and change.

Those Beavertail paddles I was talking about in post #45 go for $45 if they are never used but have numbers painted on them from the camp they came from. If you restore a canoe in the shop, they are $35.

He doesn't ship, and the longest lenght is 57". He has new Beavertails, but you could probably do better via Dri Ki.

Thanks for checking Robin - but I am needing a 60 inch paddle. I'll wait and see if the dri-ki thing works out. Its a bit disconcerting if I get clipped for $25 shipping off eBay when he is shipping for $9 otherwise.

It looks to be close to a beavertail. Mountainman Outdoor Supply Co. has it on sale for 30% off for $76.30. I generally do not favor Foxworx paddles, but this will probably be lighter than most solid beavertails, and might be just the ticket.

Specs from the Mountainman website are: Blade size-6 3/4 x 25"; Blade material-Cedar, butternut and basswood with walnut edges and polycarbonate tip; 4 oz.fiberglass cloth and 4 coats of epoxy; Shaft-Oval basswood sealed with 2 coats of epoxy and dipped in polyurethane;

Success! I just received my new Dri-ki paddle. Its great. Everything I am looking for. I may order another to use as a stand up paddle.
