At anyrate its out of my price range. And surely Mike Mc's too.

Yeah, I am a frugal, make it do or do without, wear it to rags Scotsman.

And, looking at deals on-line, I was reminded on McCrea’s First Law: Buy no clothes or shoes without trying them on first.

Spec’ed “features” are nice, but it is fit and comfort first.

I could roll the dice on some REI Outlet vest and have it shipped to the store for pick up. And then return it. And there is an REI only 25 miles away.

Down into the crowded burbs to pick it up, back home, down to the burbs to return it, back home. Hmmm, that’s a hundred miles of driving for a vest I didn’t like.

I should have been prowling the Goodwill this summer when no one wanted a winter vest.

There was a couple from Wisconsin at the Winter Camping Symposium selling blanket shirts at very reasonable prices.. Unfortunately I can't remember their names which is a pity as I wanted a small one for my wife. They gave me a card but I think it got ditched in the rush to get rid of the evidence before we hit the border.

Maybe someone can remember the name of the company?

I have one of them there Wool Blanket shirts from Empire Canvas works and I'm here to tell you they are worth every penny. Bulky as I mentioned. But oh so versatile and warm. Not sure about the wind tight assertion. Only as much as a wool blanket can be.
