Bird Poo

My trailer and two kayaks are being assaulted by birds. What’s the danger of bird droppings on galvanized metal and plastic? I’ve been losing the battle against these guys for 15 years, since building the carport. My BB gun can’t seem to hit them.

Buy yourself a really really nice car, and keep it beautifully detailed shiny and sparkly clean. Just accept that it shall henceforth be covered in bird crap, and the trailer will be fine, it will no longer be the prime poo target. The kayaks, well, they're just asking for it.

As someone who used to detail cars, bird poo is very bad for car paint. In a very short time it will eat into the finish of paint and even chrome-but it doesn't seem to bother gellcoat or royelex as much..In A barn with pigeons in it you have to cover all equipment or suffer bad corrosion.

On a serious side though, some folks around here mount replica owls. Apparently they will scare birds away, but not crows. Crows hate owls and really harass them.

I tried an owl. He wasn't much help. The sparrows pooped on him too.

The only thing I've done that works well against the starlings here was to remove their favorite nearby food source.

Can you rack the yaks on the trailer, then give it a hat of cheap poly tarp? Just enough to act as a poo umbrella ella ella ella.

Added a tarp last year. I need a better bb gun (and maybe eyeglasses). I'm considering smoke bombs. Where they nest.

If you can get your sparrows to wear chipmunk costumes these guys are pretty effective
