Everyone takes a knife with them, right ?

I prefer my leatherman...the heavy surge model... its saved me countless times. From tightening loose car racks to twisting wire over a broken canoe seat to freeing stuck tent door zippers. Like the swiss army knife guys, I wear it EVERYWHERE and dont consider myself dressed without it. I...

    Cleaning West System Pumps (reprised)

I'm with Jim on this one. I save all of the old yogurt, I can't believe it not butter, and other shallow containers for epoxy use. I find a food scale is plenty accurate and not too expensive. For the price of a replacement set of pumps, you can buy the scale at Wally world. Jason

    Canoe Seat Backrests

Since I use a kayak fishing pfd (stolquist fisherman) I also have an open back that doesn't interfere. I sewed buckle straps to my REI crazy creek type seat. It straps to the canoe bench seat just like the sitbacker from GSI. Works well enough for me. And doubles as a camp chair. Jsson

    Topic Knot for You

Yup, daisy chains are a great way to keep longer lengths of rope in order. I stuff a 100' hank of dyneema into an outside pack pocket with the tag end sticking out. Hassle free deployment. My two favorite knots are the bow line and truckers hitches. when I'm bored and have no connection...

Extra long drill for seat hangers?

Yes dont look in the drill isle at HD.. look in the electrical isle. The long bits should be with the lineman pliers and extra large hole saws jason

Solar charger for my camera question.

A little late on this one, I also have the goal zero. I agree with the power bank plan. I definitely would not hard wire any solar panel directly to any piece of electronics. The voltage is too inconsistent. As posted up thread, I wouldn't want my camera or phone or GPS out in the direct...
