    Fit to be tied

An excellent line I have found is spyderwire. It has a dyneema core with a polyester sheath. Designed for sailing rigging, so knots work great in many weather conditions. 1.8mm. 100ft spool is about $20 at westmarine.

When is it "too cold" to paddle?

I have a friend who uses a 100 degree rule. As long as the sum of the water temp and air temp exceeds 100, he is good to go. Me, I use the liquid water rule. That gets stretched to the limits sometimes.

    Orionid meteors Oct 20-22

I try to plan many of my trips around celestial events. Meteor showers are at the top of the list. Makes for a good excuse to go to the woods. The Orionids are not as well known as some of the other shows, but can still be impressive. Fun laying out under the stars and staring skyward. Besides...

Your odd habits in making camp?

Probably the only "odd" habit of mine when making camp is while collecting firewood. The secondary purpose of my wandering around far from camp to secure wood is to also locate the perfect location for my morning "contemplation". 💩

I am fortunate to be visiting Canada this weekend. It was not by design to be here for Canada Day, it just worked out that way. I am truly enjoying being here as they celebrate their 150th. #canada150

    Shore Lunch

A shore lunch makes for a great way to relax, eat and sometimes dry out ones feet. I know you like your walleye fillets fried straight up. We powder ours with a touch of bisquick. Agree that one doesn't want to take away from the flavor of the fish.

    On bannock

Sourdough uses natural yeast which isnt as prolific as the fast acting. It takes longer to multiply, and ingest. The fermentation process gives the sourdough the great flavor. Using a whole packet of fast acting in a small recipe also aids in speeding things up but loses out on the flavor from...
