The Petawawa is a river I always wanted to paddle since I first read about it from Bill Mason long ago, but never had the opportunity. This is a good video experience of the rapids from the POV of the stern paddler, which was my usual tandem position.

Rivers are the most fun to paddle. Moving water. Rapids. Scouting. Technical southern USA black water. Skill.

For flat water, my favorites are forested swamps. Then small, connected ponds and lakes. Big, open lakes are the least interesting to me, and also the most dangerous. Wind = Satan.

The two tandem teams in the video, one in an Esquif Canyon and the other in (I think) a Nova Craft Prospector, do a very nice job running and re-running Crooked Chute rapid at a low and technical water level.
