Trade Wars to Affect Tripping?

I haven't heard even a whisper of that. Ontario parks does seem kind of hell bent on raising rates but mostly they seem to be going after solo paddlers.

Has anyone heard of plans to increase fees for Americans traveling to Ontario parks?

Canada is happy to have as many Americans as possible come to Canada and spend their money here.

There are definitely affects of tariffs on travel but it's not US visitors to Canada it's the fact that many Canadians are choosing not to visit the US and if they must, to spend as little money there as possible.

As far as Ontario Parks, the fees the exactly the same for all, where you come from is irrelevant. Ontario Crown Land fees apply to all non-residents, doesn't matter if they come from the US, Botswana or Manitoba.

I don’t anticipate “significant” Canadians, such as past PM Trudeau or new PM Mark Carney coming to trip in the US. But what about less significant Canadians such as me or Mem?

F(general)I:

I know there are quite a few serious playboat/white water types that head to the States every year around this time, there are a few organized whitewater type things that they go to. Can't remember exactly where it was, but does Tennessee seem right?

I would still really like to make a tour of the States to visit some of you fine folks and put a canoe in some Yankee waters. With a new vehicle, that possibility has become more realistic. I'd really like to try some Maine waters and possibly even the unique Florida coastline stuff. I'd like all this political nonsense to blow over first though, don't want to end up a casualty of having the wrong licence plate in the wrong place at the wrong time, lol.

You're probably pretty safe, Mem - unless you show up with a Tesla. ;)

I'm surprised more of the Canadian You Tube trippers don't make a trip to the Everglades. It would be more interesting than the hot tent videos they make in the winter to me.

Don't underestimate the wildness of the Everglades. Between the mosquitoes, no-see-ums, racoons, lack of fresh water and navigating through mangroves it can kick your butt.

As far as having the wrong license plate goes, I don't think there is any animosity towards you guys down here. I was actually wondering if I need to worry about my truck parked in a remote location up there. Now if your new PM states that he would like to add the US as their 11th province that may change.
