I often, when going lite I take none as others do and use rocks,roots,trees,brush ect, but when I take them I like the aluminum Y shaped ones for most soils. I don't remember where I got them. I firmer soils, one real cheap, lite option is the long aluminum spikes made to fasten gutters onto the eves on houses. In the ADKs where I usually camp, there are often exposed roots that make great tie points. I have also learned that tying to an ultra lite canoe causes an unwanted percussion concert when the wind picks up during the night.
