This winter my canoe partner was was in desperate need of some 'Retail Therapy' and purchased a Kevlar Souris River Prospector 16. Last week the SR Loop Trailer came thru NY and we met it at St Regis Outfitters. They have a nice store as well and we both indulged in a bit more therapy waiting for Wayne to show up with the trailer.
Middle Red
From there we headed out to Little Clear Pond where we met these 4 guys who had just graduated from College. The green canoe had a hole in it, they had broken a paddle shortly after starting and of course no spare. The derelict in the back was a white water canoe covered in mold and a broken sit. But with two boxes of wine, a 12pack of PBR, and a half gallon of Black Velvet life was good. Oh ya the guy with the tent was a no show.
You got to love those first carries of a trip
The boys went to the left, we opted for the right in St Regis pond and settled onto the island.
Rib Eye and Asparagus for supper, I donated some of my bacon
In the morning we had the 'Big Breakfast' which slowed us up.
The Kelly Kettle worked great and should be a lot of fun to cook with in Algonquin this summer.
The biggest surprise of the trip was finding Chaga growing on a Beech tree.
The woods along the 3/4 mile carry out were full of Trout Lily, but we were a week too early
A few of the ADK High Peaks, not quite the Yukon.
But then there was the Ski Jumps at Lake Placid.
We go to try all our new equipment and winter mods. We had a great little two day trip and a great new addition to the fleet.
