Well will ya look at that. You have it narrowed down pretty reasonably. I was going to suggest the canvas may be verolite. Tremblay and some others used it in the 60's and 70's. Rubberised canvas is all that was, and you painted over top of it. We had used some waterproofed/fire retardant canvas once that took very little filler and could have probably just been painted over also.
That is a nice boat, looks like it would do well in a New Brunswick salmon stream for sure. Do some internet research on that area, I seem to remember there were a couple of small companies there.
