Well will ya look at that. You have it narrowed down pretty reasonably. I was going to suggest the canvas may be verolite. Tremblay and some others used it in the 60's and 70's. Rubberised canvas is all that was, and you painted over top of it. We had used some waterproofed/fire retardant canvas once that took very little filler and could have probably just been painted over also.

That is a nice boat, looks like it would do well in a New Brunswick salmon stream for sure. Do some internet research on that area, I seem to remember there were a couple of small companies there.

Iskweo , It won't win any beauty contests as it's rough & ready , thats all I ask anyway , I hate to have gear so pretty I'm afraid to use it. I think the evidence is tipping in one direction but I am grateful those of You that have much more experience than myself could consider if it sounds feasible. Thanks for your support !
