PortagePal to carry paddles and fishing rods

Hey Folks - Josh here from PortagePal - love seeing the colourful discussion about my product here on Canoe Tripping - it's always great to see people so passionate about our beautiful hobby.

Just to answer a few questions...

1. I live near Windsor, Ontario and assemble, pack and ship every single order myself (okay, my wife helps when it gets busy)
2. No, there is no additional products coming. I had an idea and I wanted to put it out there for others who may benefit from it. I put up my website almost 2 years ago now and have only ever had one product.
3. Absolutely there are a multitude of ways to carry a canoe paddle. Thingamabobs, strapping them into the canoe, carrying them in your hand, bags, socks.
4. The use cases for a PortagePal definitely are pretty wide, the best one to date are maintenance staff in Algonquin Park using a PortagePal to carry 2-3 shovels and all their paddles all together during portage maintenance.
5. I only make enough money from PortagePal to cover the cost of the website, product and shipping (You'll notice shipping is free for the most part, that costs me ~20$ per order, I'm not Amazon!). I've actually lost money overall over the last 2 years :(

I really truly was convinced to make my product available by some friends after making one for myself and using it for many, many years on our trips.

This idea was more about adding something positive to the outdoor community that I love so much, not replacing current solutions or starting arguments about whether its a viable product or not.
Hang in there Josh, live and learn, and don't take the criticism too hard. You'll never please everybody. And while I can never see me using this device I'm glad to see others making good use of it.

Hey Folks - Josh here from PortagePal

Josh, you've already make interesting contributions to a couple of threads here, but I just wanted to formally welcome you to site membership!

Feel free to ask any questions and to post messages, photos and videos, and to start threads, in our many forums. Please read Welcome to CanoeTripping and Site Rules! Also, because canoeing is a geographic sport, please add your location to the Account Details page in your profile, which will cause it to show under your avatar as a clickable map link. Many of the site's technical features are explained in Features: Help and How-To Running Thread. We look forward to your further participation in our canoe community.

I have used these items to secure paddles, fishing rods, etc in the boat. They work well and are inexpensive. Made by a guy in Minnesota so I just buy them from him. They could easily be homemade.
