"The majestic expanse of Lake Louise sits perfectly tucked between famous Rocky Mountain peaks. Local legends aside, the stunning turquoise color of Lake Louise that entices so many visitors to this magical spot is a product of light reflecting off of tiny rock particles that are carried into the lake by the glacial melt from the peaks high above."

Lake Louise is a beautiful paddle but it's not nearly as big as you think.
It is quite busy during the peak summer season. As soon as you get away from the docks and the masses of tourist boats it gets quite peaceful. The photo with the beached canoe is at the far end looking back to Chateau Lake Louise and behind, on the far side of the valley, the Lake Louise ski hill. Victoria glacier is above the lake. Lots of hiking trails in the area as well... Worth the visit. Arrive very, very early if you want to beat the crowds.

Our last visit there was in 2017.. The canoe livery is a zoo and expensive.. We had our own boat with us but no urge at all to paddle on the lake. It was amusing to watch people try to paddle. It is not a big lake.. $135 plus tax for 30 min? Better to hike and take in the scenery for free.

We found Maligne Lake far more interesting and did paddle.
