New canoe shop

You may have to build a boathouse to store the hulls so you have more room in the shop for working.

I had to put a wood “sleeper” floor in my last concrete wood shop floor. Easier on the knees and back and can add insulation. A bunch of work, but was happy with the end result.

Anything that softens the cement, sure helps the knees ! After working on it for 28 yrs, my knees tell me so !

I still park vehicles in my shop,
so a wood floor was out of the question. Card board works fine, and it's recyclable, when i'm done.

Still working on the shop, a little at a time. I picked up a pellet stove to heat it, we have 2 in the new to us house and I think it will do a good job for occasional usage. They are fairly easy to install also.

Robin what are you using for flooring insulation? The problem for us is while the shop is toasty the floor is not.

I have gotten a lot done to the shop recently, installed the pellet stove, hung my axes, paddles, Duluth/Woods packs, hung some pics, and a bunch of organizing.

It was 18f this morning and the pellet stove did great job warming the shop.

Well done! An inspiring atmosphere. All it needs now is the inevitable patina of age and usage.

Wow!

Do you offer consulting rates? I'm still planning my "garage" for our new home in Peterborough cause it doesn't have one and my wife thinks we need a place to store cars in a Canadian Winter.
I'm thinking canoe storage and workshop, Baby! And looking at your setup I am supremely jealous...

Hmmm...

I didn't think you could ever improve on the last canoe shop, but I think you just did. I remember some time ago you mentioned a deck cover for that freighter. Is that still in the works?

Thanks, I think so, I was just thinking about that and now that I have heat and plenty of time I might go for it.

Gee, missed the update, looks great! That's a real man-cave. I think I didn't see the beer fridge though, or are you old school, and keep a case of Labatt 50 by the pellet stove so its nice and warm when you drink it?

Oh man - back in the days when I used to frequent the local pub, there was always a stash of warm, "quart-sized" beers for the older guys. We used to call it "shelf-beer." Usually Molson Export. I can understand wanting to have a full-flavoured stout at room temperature, but commercial swill? Yuck.
