Some Florida family with hurricane fatigue (Helene) came to the cabin for some R&R. Unfortunately, water levels on the Totogatic are poor due to drought, and then there’s the blue green algae thing in that flowage. So we drove a short distance to Trego, paddled a stretch of the Namekagon that is usually full of tubers, and has a reliable flow since it is between reservoirs.

We had lots of bald eagle viewing, some other waterfowl. A nice 3 hour float with some swifts to add excitement for the visitors. The Swift P14 has become my favorite canoe. Maneuvers well, stable, holds Bogan with a few gallons of water astern for ballast. I used a straight wood paddle and was able to keep up with the yaks, hang back to provide assistance to my novice relatives. Seat is nice and comfortable with the Swift seat pad and the Backsaver. My favorite canoe.

I think need a higher resolution waterproof camera. Suggestions appreciated.

My cousin went home happy, just in time to ride out Milton with her son and his family.DSCN0911.jpeg
