It's HOT!

Woke this morning to a chill 13C. Hot and rainy last few days has meant a bumper crop of mosquitoes. The only cure for the mosquitoes is winter, and it's not far away. So struggle through the heat and mosquitoes and enjoy the soft water season before you lament frozen water lines, blow power steering hoses an dead car batteries in a few short months

Well our little lesson on the river started with Naah blue sky don't need no raincoat hot. In the 80s an hour later the hail came and the temp dropped into the low 60's I was cold!!
Today 66 tomorrow night high thirties. Winter coming
And what do you do when you are canoeing in muskeg in a hailstorm other than saying ow

Makes me wonder how much wool and fleece to pack for August paddling in Newfoundland..its warm now for them.. 63 f 17c

With the Humidex values we are to get up to 104F (40C).

It’s not the heat…. Humidity index today is something like 107F. It rained, and now the sun is blazing with zero breeze. Working outside is like being trapped in the Devil’s armpit.

Time to retreat to the nice cool shop.

Okay, NOW it's hot. It took a couple days or so for the hot and bothered Manitobans to share their heat eastwards. Seems late in the summer for things here in Ontario south to finally warm up. I still have my fleece hanging at the back door. Evenings are still cool. Nice and cool. Heat and humidity used to arrive earlier, is this the new weather trend? I'm okay with it. Evening bike rides are blissfully energizing after the midday swelter.
In keeping with the summer sizzle, we're having a Mexican fiesta (though I sure could go for a siesta) this afternoon. Fajitas, slaw, chips and dip and beer, followed by a board game indoors with the AC on. Later, after the sun sinks below the horizon we'll stroll through the yard amongst the fireflies.

You're welcome.

Funnel cloud advisory today, but at least it is cooler, lol.

The heat finally got to Rhode Island...only our second (or third?) day in the 90's, but with wicked humidity and a nasty heat index. I'll be leading a club paddle on a local river that is fed from the bottom of a big reservoir, so the water will be icy cold...perfect day for that. I'm betting we will all be in the river pretty frequently today.

No problem here. It's raining again. Its been raining a good bit of the time to the detriment of you in the water starved West. But while I might have gotten wet when it was warm today (76), its now back to fleece time as a cold front ran through.

I am packing wool. nine days to departure to St John NL to start. Its eight C(47 F) there right now. Normal high is 21. It rains a lot. Now it seems to rain most of the time there.

The downside is that blackflies are eternal in summer. Last time we went in August they were biting.
