After linking up on this site, Athomas and I put together my dream boat upgrade from a fiberglass to kevlar Nomad. Due to a recent shoulder surgery that has me laying low for a while, he did me a huge favor and picked up the Nomad from Dave Curtis and drove it 5 hours to VT, and purchased my fiberglass.

For those that were following this boat on Hemlock's site and curious, it is truly like new. With a comparable new Peregrine selling for $4,000, $2,400 felt more than reasonable- especially after seeing the condition in person. It's like it was moved around in a showroom for 37 years and seen only a couple demo paddles. Can't wait until spring when my shoulder can get this thing on the water.

I saw it over at Dave's this fall. That's a great canoe in great condition for a very reasonable price and I'm surprised it hadn't sold before now. Those early Curtis laminations weigh a bit more but are durable builds. Looks like there aren't any decals - you can get a couple of "Curtis" decals if you're so inclined.

Congrats on your Nomad. Beautiful boat. I agree that the price was fair or even a bargain. Just to be clear that canoe spent 37 years on a rack in a collector's garage in the Ann Arbor area so no shuffling around or demo paddles. Cheers!

I was also very surprised. When it was posted in April I was certain it'd be gone by summer. When it was still there this fall I took that as a sign that it really needed to be my boat!

I'm curious about decals, are you aware of any sources? I was planning on trying to find a graphic designer to make a file from a photo that I could have printed by one of the many online custom decal companies.

I bet if you reached out to Dave Curtis he would give them to you.

Congrats on the Nomad! I use to have a fiberglass model and a kevlar Peregrine. I sold the Nomad to a friend and I swapped my 2020 Peregrine for a 2017 model. Why you ask, it shaved a few pounds due to difference in laminates. Anyway you cannot go wrong with either a Nomad or Peregrine IMO. As others have mentioned I have seen your boat at Hemlock and it is truly beautiful! Here is an image of my Nomad and 2020 Peregrine. Curtis Canoe Hemlock Canoe June 26th 2022_01©.jpg
