Taking this to a separate thread in hopes that Canoe Trippers know of other composite manufacturers that use epoxy resin in their construction. The incomplete list so far:

Souris River
Hellman
Savage River

Add ‘em if you know ‘em.

Hellman uses ecopoxy, a plant based no voc product.

I think (not certain) that Hellman used regular epoxy resin before switching to Ecopoxy.

Likewise Bluewater may have used epoxy. I have found references to epoxy resin in old Bluewater info, and sometimes just “special resin”.

Hellman did use Westsystem before using Ecopoxy!

Sorry for my ignorance. Can you explain the relevance. ?

A thread about refinishing the bottom of a worn hull using Vinylester epoxy sparked my interest about which manufacturers use(d) epoxy resin in their construction. Most use Vinylester resin; Vinylester over Vinylester works fine, epoxy over Vinylester works fine, Vinylester over epoxy is not recommended.

I am curious about all things canoe, especially modern hull construction. Not just canoe; a fair number of high end sea kayak manufacturers use epoxy resin in their builds, and now I’m curious about why that is so.

Don't know any more, but the two savage river boats I owned were very tough!

Add to list, Nighthawk Canoe uses epoxy.

Swift’s website confusingly mentions The laminate is fused together with a high impact, flexible Epoxy Vinylester resin system”. Say what?
