I have a very similar sliding seat arrangement on my Sojourn. The brackets are made of kydex. Easy material to work with, and easy on the wood.

Got it out on the lake tonight, there was a strong headwind from where I launched and it felt great to paddle. I didn't bring any ballast but it cut through the water well, turned easy and tracked straight. It was a bit of a sail when windward, but maybe more weight will change that. I only carried it about 150 feet but the yoke felt good and positioned well, so I do appreciate having that combo. I have some extra d rings and I might throw 4 in it for securing loads. All in all this turned out to be a good sub$300 boat.
