Ash products banned from Canadian National Parks and Provincial parks

You can thank Swift Canoe and Kayak for messaging me that little prank. Not that I might ever get to Canada again. I mailed my passport in for renewal yesterday.. I hate to see it go in the mail.. I know they are going to lose it.
But I think I can get into Canada with a driverslicense.. Getting home I might not have Alan's luck dang..
I did apply for both the book passport and the card.. After reading Alans tale I thought a backup was wise.

Well, I have to fess up myself. No, I didn't burn any axe handles, but my twitchy nerve running between my funny bone and my short fuse lit, and it was only a matter of moments before I thought "Oh ffffff, who's posting click bait for fake news watchers!?" Then my brain (finally) ground through some sluggish gears from neutral into low. "Oh. That was good."
There are real issues involving invasive species, and like I linked the Emerald Ash Borer is kicking arse here in S. Ontario. Not fun. Our daughter was a biologist for the Food Inspection Agency for some time, and it was annoying-scary to see all the imports coming into the country flagrantly flouting the rules; suspicious seafood, buggy raw wood pallets, infected live plants...I'm not trying to spoil the fun nor rain on a fun parade, I love a good joke as much as anyone, but the stories she shared with us made us fear for the integrity for our indigenous ecological health. Okay, now I'm sounding all party pooper, sorry. Let me just slip out back to scrape the burnt bits off my gunnels before it's too late. lol.

ps God save the Queen, and plastic axe handles.

Have no fear YC. I hear there's a pipeline into Manitoba. But you have to be willing to go for a long cold winter walk to do it. Orrr I would be willing to smuggle you across. It'll cost you a dufflebag of this https://smuttynose.com/beer/baltic-porter/

I never saw one loss in 22 years working there.

Im just anxious. thanks

I know, It always hard to leave the documentation in someone else hands, especially when it's the government. Who knows what the recent cut backs combined extra scrutinization will yield.

You'll be fine.:(

Well, after being detained at the Niagara border trying to back home into Canada in the past, I'd bring all necessary documentation and credentials and more if possible. I'm hearing that three-hour detentions and interviews might SOP now if there's any reason for suspicion.

The border officials I had to deal with had a pretty heavy air of authority about them, kinda threatening in their general behaviour and demeanor so in keeping with natural law that all organisms, from the most high-minded geniuses to the lowest amoebas will act to ensure their survival first and foremost, protect yourself.

Just remember when trouble starts, things can always get worse, much worse... below is an on-the-ground illustration of a border crossing of sorts, gone wrong.

PS... Odyssey... examples of how bad things can get on the border are the Great Lakes, over a hundred invasive exotics and the list keeps growing. There is no plan to build an incredible, just an incredible beautiful wall that the Mexicans will pay for running through the lakes at the boundary and with the near elimination of the EPA some are looking on with a great deal of interest. Asian carp, eh? Shore nuff... durn tootin...

We spend 2 1/2 hours crossing the border into Canada a couple years ago trying to get my step daughter to college. All her paper work was done but the paperwork was harder to do then criminals. When they finally got to her it was a 3 minute interview, but most students don't have theirs done correctly.

We haven't had a problem since, even bring our 2 Rental Rescue Canoes home.

Going to Canada is ok it's the unwelcome reception back at the US border
I have a loooooong record of going back and forth. When I lived in Canton NY, Ottawa was our city to visit and drink etc
