6 Nights in Algonquin

Thanks John, checked out Jeff's maps last night, wow! Think I'm going to order the Western/Southern section. Very exciting.

Good luck on your upcoming trip Coldy. Planning is part of the fun too, eh? I don't have any Jeff's maps but have looked them over plenty of times; nice looking maps packed full of info.

I've had Jeff's Algonquin maps for a couple years and there is a lot of added info on them.

I looked at a lot of loops, planned a few trips with them and modified and few of Kevin Callan's routes with them.

Speaking KC, he has a good book on Algonquin with lots of routes mapped out.

Thank you tump-lion.

I made the large triangles that go to the ground so that they don't flare out like a real whelen they just go straight down. and the smaller triangles (when deployed) use a small piece of bungee and usually get their own stake. On the one in the photo below I just cut the shape of the doors into the tarp rather than sew them on like I did on the first one, so there is no seam on the corners. The hammock suspension will go in the gap between the small doors and the large doors.

Nice rig ! Looks great for a hammock !

Are his books available in the library or you have to order them?
Sweeper, I'm working this summer near the border of NY and Great Barrington, are you near there? I'm in copake NY

Ordered Kevin's book and Jeff's maps.

Sweeper, will hopefully take a drive (long) to meet up and talk, thanks. Working July - mid August.

Jeff's Maps arrived today! Whoo hooo! Print is a little small and I'm doubling up reading glasses. Wife is looking at me wondering what I'm up to. Oh boy, do we have a list on this site with excuses on going canoetripping?
