You may never see another canoe like this for sale: a completely restored 1901 15ft Rushton Indian, serial #84. The Indian was the first canvas covered canoe Rushton ever made, and was made for only one year. Production on the Indian ceased when the Indian Girl was introduced the next year. It weighs a very manageable 67lbs. Its serial #84 identifies it as being one of the first ever made. It belongs in a museum!

The canoe was restored in 2019 and is mostly original. The ribs and siding are Adirondack white cedar, the rails are spruce, and the decks, seats, and thwarts are all made of chestnut (which is almost unobtainable today). The seat webbing is new and hand caned. The original removable floorboards are included. Note the interesting flat and wide shoe keel. The canvas was treated with a mildewcide and filled with Kirby’s filler. The color is Epifanes Deep Green.

I’ve had the canoe in the water only a handful of times in a large nearby pond over the past 5 years. I can tell you it paddles beautifully. $4000 cash only.
