With the price of vehicles, gotta make my travel car last. New struts and a new roof rack are necessary. This rack should be quieter. My buggy just got to 100K, still towing well (knocking on wood). My former roof rack and a nice Yakima hitch goalpost roof rack are free to anyone wanting them.

I too just got a set of new struts on my near 17 yr old Mazda which I generally use for my annual trips to Canada. It still runs great and has never (so far) let me down out on the road. So I am ready to roll for this year’s trip in July to NW Ontario.

My 1997 Dodge van conversion, which has been my canoe vehicle and mobile home since 2002, only has 130,000 miles. However, the resident mice haven't let me inside for about 18 months, and last winter a tree fell on it and crushed my rack tower. I wonder if the old gas guzzler will even start. I'm going to try to get it back in driveable and liveable shape this spring. A new rack would now cost more than the sale value of the vehicle.
