    Spirit II

I like those tractor seats. Leave the stern seat intact and replace the bow seat with a web or cane seat if you want to paddle solo from there. There is a 3" difference in bow/stern heights so that will effect handing in wind when paddled that way. Have fun with it. I like the Spirit ...

    Hello from the Northwest.

Gold Bar. Now that's what I call a great name for a town. Is it named after real gold or a saloon? Welcome to the group! Dave

    The Nate stick

I'm a believer! I rigged a wide strap through the open gunwales of my solo skin on frame canoe as a carry yoke. One day I sat in the canoe with the strap in place (right where my thighs would rest on it), and it was much more comfortable even with the footbar. My Kevlar solo has a footbar and a...

4 days solo at Marshall Lake

Great report Robin, and just finished reading the other TRs of your group trip. Sounds as though everyone had a great time. Just got back from 11 days in Alaska so I am playing forum catchup. The first time I ran into Klick was at a Chinese restaurant in Ignace that had Sweet and Sour Klick on...

In Search of a Gunnel Repair Solution

I have ordered aluminum and wood gunwales from Wenonah for various customers and I have yet to see a prebent set. I don't think I've ordered any vinyl clad ones from Old Town. It is possible some builders do pre bend but I know Wenonah doesn't. Dave

    My Pearl Build

Stunning detail in the contrasting wood patterns. I am an aficionado of the open gunwales also. Nice job. Regards, Dave

I've always wanted one of those paddle joiners. Neat idea.

    spray covers

Mike, The patches etc weigh next to nothing. The cover itself weighs 7 lbs. I didn't opt for the lighter material (more $$) and regret that decision now. I also got the built in cockpit cover that has an extra zipper and flap of cloth so that increases the weight a bit. The RX Wilderness is a...

    spray covers

I just got a North Water one piece spray deck for my UL layup Wenonah Wilderness. Because of the thin Kevlar hull it was strongly recommended that I use the loops on patches and the lace line method of attachment. The vinyl patches on the inside of the hull spread the load out better than the...

    Klepper Kamerad TS rebuild

I just changed out the clunky, height adjustable web seat in my Wenonah solo for a sliding pedestal seat. Strangely the pedestal seat, if mounted normally to the bottom of the canoe, is lower than the low position of the web seat which is a good height for me. I ended up mounting the seat on...

    Sylvania Wilderness

Read your blog report. Very nice trip. Gratifying to see that you have figured out how to include your daughter so that she enjoys canoe trips and the outdoors. Regards, Dave
