    Ready to road test

Nice! I feel your pain with the bars. I own a Mazda 3. There are special lugs under a cap from the factory to mount towers. 28" spread. I center the canoe on them (16'6" bell in RX) with the front and rear tie downs in place, the wobble is very slight at its worst. And that's on the...

    Appalachian Skid Plate Refurbishment

Looking good sir! I'm curious, has anyone here ever used a really sharp block plane to smooth out nasty kevlar skids? Think it would cut the kevlar or just bind up? Jason

    Jerking Meat

Yup, like Yknpdlr does, I cut the soy 50/50 with water and add a couple cups of lemon juice. Also 50/50 with some worchestersir sauce. About a cup of Light brown sugar, maybe a couple tablespoons of liquid hickory smoke. Slice it thin, put in marinade over night (the longer the better) I lay the...

    Dog Pad

I love the look on your dog! "are we there yet?" Lol I also use a yoga mat cut down to fit just right. Its sticky enough to stay put, and not too thick so it will lay flat in the rounded canoe bottom with no additional fasteners. I also take it out and use it for the dog in the tent. Jason

    New Visitor to the Field

I agree on the bobcat. Growing up on the north west edge of the 'Dacks, I've had one lucky encounter with what we believe was a lynx... that one was more of a solid tan-ish gray with almost no spotting. the bobcat we had howling every night (creepy) for a few weeks -several years ago- was seen...

    Hood-Loop Failure (Revisited)

I have never gave them any thought! Now I have to go and do an inspection. I can't remember what type of heavy duty strapping I used (they are on my third vehicle, its been over 15 years)... I think I cut pieces off a safety harness... I used them last week to haul some 16' 2x6 and 2x8...

    Sponges

I have owned those pumps.(and dont forget to switch hands once and a while).. from my kayak days... they are supposed to slip into a special hatch on an expedition type spray skirt so after you re-enter the kayak and somehow manage to get your skirt back on while totally flooded out, you can...

    Sponges

Tried many different sponges.. they dont do it for me. One word. SHAMWOW! I bought a 10 pack at BJs about 10 years ago. Still have a few unused ones. I find that they hold more water than a sponge.... they clean the debris from the bottom better than a sponge.. they clean the muck off your...

    For the Fishing Folks

I'm gonna say that these pieces are more of a conversation or display type of deal that a loved one with more money than I have would buy for a special birthday or Christmas. Fancy desk art. But... as my wife always tells me when shes cleaning out the basement in preparation for another yard...
