Thanks everyone! There’s a few small spots in the gel coat with some spiderwebbing so I was thinking of maybe grinding the cracks and gel coating. Is there any other way or tricks for dealing with the this kind of blemish?

I’m about to start a restoration on an older (1987) Mad River Kevlar canoe and am curious about the type of resin they used to build their boats? Vinylester, epoxy? Any information is appreciated! Thanks! Rubby

Here’s my results. I ended up using a combination of 406 silica and 407 low density fillers in about a 50/50 mix. Very happy with the results, time will tell how it holds up. 2oz cloth holds it all together for a 26oz paddle.

Go big! 17’ prospecteur all the way. I paddle big boats a lot, 18’ NC prospector and 18’6 McKenzie. When we take the 16’ boats out they feel tiny and uncomfortable.
