    How many packs?

My wife and I use two Battle Lake Outdoors "Grand Portage" packs for two weeks in the BWCA/Quetico. With an add-on, open pocket on the back, we are able to carry the PFD's and make single portages. The packs have plenty of capacity. With each trip, we are able to get the food, gear and weight...

    Bear Lines

Petzl Ultralegere Pulley for very light, versatile and cheap. It works on most oval carabiners. The Blue Water micro pulley is also very light, strong, smooth and affordable. These both work well for the two-Rope system.

    Gear that annoys you

So-called "multi-function" products. One function MAY work somewhat, the other function(s) seldom do. For example, match cases with compass, whistle, mirror, etc. Saw/hatchet?

    Gear that annoys you

Don't have any gear that annoys me. Have simplified, take only the essentials for safety and comfort. Many pieces of gear have changed to get what works best for me. Worn gear that is questionable in function or safety annoys me.

    Stoves

In the past, I have used and owned just about every kind of white gas, kerosene, propane and butane stove. I have used some wood stoves as well. Now, all I use are the Trangia alcohol or canister burners. We use the canister burners for car camping or day trips when we are using the steel woks...

Can anyone explain how this accessory works?

If they are to be used on canoe foot braces, they may be used without the adjustable toe straps. Actually, this might be the only way to use them since the bottom of the straps should be held in place directly below the two slots on the toe clip (as they would be in the slots of the pedals)...

    Ethical dilemma

For me, it has never really been a dilemma. I have always tried to support the locally owned shops ( outdoor, paddle, ski and bike) because they have supported the sport in the area. This support comes in the form of product discounts, being instrumental in the clubs and events, and acting as...
