I am an enthusiast from China and I really want to build my own canoe, but I don't have any reference data or drawings. There are few data graphs in our country. Can you send them to me via email? Thank you very much this time
Thank you very much, Allen. Although I have an adventurous heart, I don't have much time or place to go for drifting or rapids. I just need to build a canoe and find a calm surface to play on. I may have overlooked the possibility of members not willing to exchange addresses, but I am still very grateful to you, Allen. I will refer to more types of canoes
What kind of workshop do you have to build the canoe? How much space and what kinds of tools? How much time and money do you want to spend building the canoe? Where will you store the canoe when not in use? How will you transport it to the water? Answers to those questions would help determine whether it would be best to build a strip canoe, skin on frame, or stitch and glue (plywood)) canoe.

Thank you very much. I have looked at the theme you provided, and I will refer to it and start building it next. Personally, I still prefer the design of the Northwest canoe, but GA looks good tooNothing wrong with using pine for strips. Plenty of people have done that. It will just add a little weight and make sanding a little more difficult.
If you search the canoe building forum on this site you'll find a lot of in-depth threads that show the strip building process step by step.
Northwest canoe has some nice designs that are only $5 and available for download after purchase.

After 3 months of construction, I finally succeeded and successfully conducted a trial voyageWhat type of canoe do you have now and what types of water do you like to paddle on? What type of construction method are you planning to use?
There are a lot of websites that offer canoe plans such as bear mountain, northwest canoe, chesapeake light craft, ashes still water boats, and more. I would suggest starting off looking at some of those websites.
I don't think you'll find any members here willing to swap e-mail addresses with China until they get to know the person a little better but we would be happy to help out any other way we can.

上面提到的常饮精酿啤酒,因为我平时做一些啤酒是为了自印,单个的木条太单调了,所以设计了几张图纸看起来很棒!您对它的表现满意吗?弓上写的是什么?
感谢您的更新。

The Changyin craft beer mentioned above, because I usually make some beer for self printing, the single wooden strip is too monotonous, so I designed a few drawingsThat looks great! Are you happy with how it performed? What does the writing on the bow say?
Thanks for the update.

I used pine strips because walnut wood is restricted from import and I couldn't buy walnut wood of the appropriate length, so I replaced it with a paintbrushNice looking boat. Can you tell us what plans you used, what wood species and what you'd do differently if you had to do it again?
More pictures are also, always, appreciated.

I converted the dimensions based on the drawings I found myself, and then built them in my warehouse. For the first time, I only remembered that as long as they were tightly combined, I didn't think about using a stapler. This was the first time in my life that I processed and created wooden products, so there were many details that I didn't pay attention to. However, I think I will pay attention to these details in my future construction. The stability is very good. My friend, my daughter, and three others weigh about 200kg, which I think is still acceptable. We don't dare to conduct tipping tests in winter now. I think I will experiment in summerIt looks like you had a nice area to work in. Lots of room.
Building without staples is pretty ambitious for a first time build but it looks like you did good work.
The bottom looks very round. How did the stability feel?

Douban, congratulations on your first canoe build and welcome to site membership!
Feel free to ask any questions and to post messages, photos and videos, and to start threads, in our many forums. Please read Welcome to CanoeTripping and Site Rules! Many of the site's technical features are explained in Features: Help and How-To Running Thread. We look forward to your participation in our canoe community.
We have never had a member from China before. Just curious, why did you choose to build an open canoe rather than a kayak? Are any open canoe brands sold commercially in China?
