Who designed the Sawyer Solo 13?

It's yet another David Yost boat. I owned one for a while. I've owned quite a few solos and it impressed me. It's very stable. It's more efficient than I expected although naturally it can't match longer/skinnier boats for cruising efficiency. It turns nicely and in calm water you can freestyle it if you like. I remember having it out in high wind and it just took care of me and got the job done...it's predictable with no bad habits (typical Yost boat).

Thanks, Gumpus. That tells me a lot. Like - I need to take a drive and think about how I'll store another canoe.

It's not a red hot boat like a 13' FlashFire, it's more of a friendly, versatile little solo. I think it can handle a good load too.

Thanks. There's one a couple hours from here that looks like it's in good shape for an attractive price. I'm on the fence about buying it, but if I can get a family member interested that would be a go.

I just picked one up recently. Its my first solo so I have nothing similar to compare it to, but I like it a lot after a few short paddles. It felt playful and I found myself wishing for some waves. It will take while to learn how to best handle it though. I'll be interested to hear how you like it if you buy it. Mine will need a new seat in the near future.

Unfortunately, it was over 100 miles from me and I hesitated - so somebody beat me to it....which doesn't surprise me since the price was really attractive. Not that I needed it since I have the Wildfire, but it might have been a good one for my daughter. Oh well...

Dang. Well keep looking. I was 75 miles from home when I saw the ad for mine. Took a brief side trip which was only 5 miles out of my way, and took her home.

Hesitation kills!
