What has the world come to? SUP Yoga

If it makes more paddlers so be it. All is well. I can't do yoga on terra firma so SUP yoga is not for me heck I can't even get from kneeling to standing!😀

SUP paddling is good for the sport. It teaches bunches of bored kayakers the mechanics of the single blade paddling with torso rotation from the toenails up. In the end, when those folks retire their bikinis and sit down they will be canoe paddlers with better mechanics than most of the current crop exhibit - All Good!

On the other hand, I see lots of folks employing their bent SUP paddles backwards, which is wildly counter-productive. Maybe beginers should use straight SUP paddles?

I've concluded after years of observation that if a new paddler isn't introduced to how a bent shaft paddle is intended to be used, over 90% will paddle with it backwards. Once they're told the how's & why's of using it, it all makes sense and they take it from there but until that occurs...well, you've all seen what happens. Somehow it's just not very intuitive.

That's it for now. Take care and until next time...be well.

Yup, including two people in a tandem, both bent shaft bass akwards.

The funny thing is that it is so easily explained and so immediately comprehended, and yet so counter-intuitive if not.

I’m not too old to learn new tricks, but I am an unlikely participant in SUP yoga. From the photos it does look fun to watch. It just needs some musical accompaniment to become SUP yoga freestyle ballet.

I hope the costumes stay the same.

Um no Mike on that freestyle SUP thing. The ex president of the FS committee tried edging the board to accelerate a turn. He accelerated himself off the board . I'd like to know how the current chair can manage a post or wedge

Some things are best appreciated by themselves.

If you need any more tinder for that visual fire Mike, may I suggest SUP poling? Kinda like pole dancing on water.
Okay, now I'll just step away from this.
