Apparently I've been thinking of Mem too. I had a dream the other night that I went to Geraldton and he had a resturant with a big "CLOSED" sign on it. But people were lined up trying to get in. I walked down into the basement and Mem was there accepting some customers and turning others away. Everyone was milling around talking about how they knew Mem and why they should be allowed to enter. There was a sleazy atmosphere to the whole thing and Mem had long flowing gender transition hair and a bit of a diva attitude. I wanted to ask him about it but also didn't want to offend him so I just played it cool.

Later that night we came back and Mem was on stage doing a Plaid Prancer routine in drag and was falling down drunk. We went up on stage to stop the show and help him get home. I was afraid we'd have a lot of angry customers when we stopped the show but when the house lights went up there was only one guy in the audience.

In a couple weeks I'll be driving around Lake Superior and was thinking about taking a detour up to Geraldton but now I'm not so sure.

Ha ha, that's some funny stuff Alan, not too far off last weekend, lol. I'm off the Spam now, although Jim, I might make an exception for that beautiful looking piece of processed pecker meat. Just in time for Canadian Thanksgiving! If you are up this way, please do stop in Alan, I promise you I'll keep my kilt on, maybe I'll take you for a ride in the beast. I'm hoping to finish it this week, but people keep offering me work for money, and I'm having a hard time saying no.

I was frying up some spam on morning #20 of a canoe trip last week and filming the process for a canoe cooking video. I warn others when I am "on air" and this time told them not to say anything to offend our Canadian friends who have a special fondness for Spam. I was remembering the spam banter here. For the record it was like having steak with our Ova Easy eggs that morning.

After a couple of weeks in the bush, a can of spam looks mighty appetising. I remember back in the 70's ( not often or very clearly) that we had ration packs with all canned foods inthem. Chicken or spam or sardines...even little cans of pre cooked bacon that were like gold for trading. Much better than the boil and barf stuff they toss at the kids now.

That one is certainly very decorative Jim. A century from now some nouveau riche millionaire would spend a years wages just to own such a thing....you might want to hoard a case and pass it down to the grandkids. Ahhhh the romance of free market capitalism.

First there was pumpkin spice coffee, then pumpkin spice beer. Now this, pumpkin spice Spam. Just when I thought perfectly good food couldn't get any more b*st*rdized. Lock up your women and children, and your Spam.

Alan, you should drop in to see our friend in Geraldton. You two could swap stories and couscous recipes.
You'll be guaranteed a good time. Seriously.
