Hello,

I love canoes! Did I mention I love Canoes! My fleet has grown to over 20 with several great solo’s. I have 5 daughters that all paddle tandem and solo so when I ran across this ugly little boat I had to save it. Luckily I am a traveling sales rep so the 5 hour each way trip to pick it up was incorporated into a work trip. Anyway once I got it home I posted a few pictures on facebook and we all think it is a 13’ 4” Sawyer Starlight. I put a lot of elbow grease into removing all the paint. Next I applied an epoxy resin on the interior and Epoxy paint on the exterior. I picked up a used trim package from a Northstar Solo at the WPASCR in June. I finished it off with those aluminum rails, thwarts, grab handles, and wood seat. Not real sure what I am going to do with it but so happy I had the opportunity to bring this beautiful little boat back to a usable condition. I will probably let my girls give it a try and see what they think. Thank you for this wonderful place to talk about the love of all things canoe.

Welcome to the land where canoeslutmania is considered normal if not admirable.

trip to pick it up was incorporated into a work trip

When working in corporate America, I somehow magically managed to have necessary business trips to places where I wanted to paddle or buy canoes. I drove two Mike Galt canoes back on rental cars from Florida to New York and one Nolan Whitesell canoe from Tennessee to New York.

I finished it off

The restorative transformation of that junkyard dog is superb.

Thank you for this wonderful place to talk about the love of all things canoe.
