Interesting read but with "potentially toxic mud" and the only fish able to live there are Talapia & an endangered baitfish, snowshoeing across mud to find a camping spot & BYO(water)... I don't see this making the list of unfulfilled tripping dreams.

(Although, I'll admit that the lack of people and portages have some appeal.)

Good for him. Paddling the Salton Sea piqued my interest about 10 years ago but it didn't take much research to figure out it wasn't for me.

Interesting article. I often flew over the Salton Sea flying to/from San Diego while my daughter lived there. I thought I would visit someday but never got around to it.
