I thought I would post this in case anyone else might make use of something like this.
It is portage yoke pad to cover the neck portion of the portage yoke.
The first version of this was just intended to keep the yoke from rubbing on the back of the neck and it worked fine.
This version is meant to do that and distribute some of the weight of the canoe onto the shoulders below the neck.
Without having an opportunity to test this with a pack and on a trail, I think it will be fine.
I used parts of two different sizes of pool noodles, 500 denier Cordura and 2" hook and loop.

Thanks
I won't get a chance to really field test it until September in the Quetico.
The uses for pool noodles are endless it seems.
They may have replaced PVC pipe or EMT!?

Nice! Kind of looks like this this piece of gear from Field and Stream...

In my younger years as a scout leader, I carried a heavy Grumman tandem many miles with the lashed in paddles yoke in Algonquin. I wore an old horse collar PFD for padding. It was very comfortable with no extra things to take along. One boy in each canoe had to wear that type of pfd for the carrier to use.
